The two most common reasons: a history of falls, or living alone with a chronic condition where a delay in getting help could matter. Adult children who live far away often push for one after a near-miss, even when the parent feels fine day to day.
It's worth being honest that a device doesn't prevent falls or manage a condition. What it does is shorten the time between something going wrong and someone knowing about it.
