What it costs — and why quotes vary so much

Installed prices vary widely depending on the tub type, features, and how much plumbing or bathroom modification your home needs. A simple soaker in a bathroom that's already tub-ready costs far less than a jetted model that requires re-tiling and a bigger water heater.

Because of that, a single advertised price tells you little. Get itemized, in-writing quotes from more than one installer, and make sure the quote separates the tub, the installation labor, and any required plumbing or electrical work.
